Collection/s:
An extract from a 1960s catalogue produced by Letchworth company D. Meredew Ltd.
Meredew moved to the garden city in 1914. Their furniture was amongst the best of the British furniture industry. Following the relaxation of Utility regulations after the war, the firm carried out research into living conditions and furniture needs, leading to a pioneering new style of furniture.
In addition to their own designs, they also produced cases for Bush and Murphy televisions and radios and produced high-grade products for Knoll International such as the design classic, the Barcelona Chair, designed by Mies Van Der Rohe.
