Design a Banner or Flag for Letchworth Garden City - The Entries

Four Square Our City Banner

Ebenezer Howard presents the Four Square Our City banner at Coronation Celebrati May 1909 Festivities, Leys Avenue

Banners were popular in the early years of the Garden City, proudly displayed by organisations at Letchworth’s many events, processions and grand occasions.

With the Town Centre’s new sculptures inspired by the Garden City’s most famous banner – ‘Foursquare Our City’ the time is right for banners and flags to make a ‘comeback’.

Earlier  this year, budding artists and designers, of all ages were invited to design either a flag (ages 16 and under) or a banner (ages 17 and over) that illustrates their ‘take’ on the world's first Garden City.

Attracting over 50 entries, the standard of artwork was high, presenting the judges with the difficult task of choosing the winners. This exhibition features every entry, showcasing the talent, imagination and effort of all those that entered.

Thank you to everybody that took part.
