Museum artefacts star in London exhibition
Artefacts from the Heritage Museum are taking pride of place in a new exhibition, now open at the Garden Museum in London.
‘From Garden City to Green City’ explores the many visions, designs and projects including those of Ebenezer Howard, that have inspired the ‘green city’ movement over the last 150 years. From the Victorian pioneers determined to improve living conditions in post-Industrialised Britain, to today’s ground-breaking landscape architects transforming our urban centres, the exhibition considers whether our current enthusiasm for eco-living and seasonality can make a lasting change.
Our Curator - Collections, Vicky Rawlings, said: "Its a great opportunity to allow a wider audience to catch a glimpse of some of the very special items in our collection, especially in these displays which highlight the continuing relevance of the Garden City Movement today"
Members of the museum team were honoured to be invited to the exhibition's private view last week, chatting to the Garden Museum's Director Christopher Woodward and greatly enjoying the exhibition.
The exhibition runs until April 2012, and has an accompanying range of special events.
The exhibition has already been garnering favourable reviews in the London and national press, here, and here. It even featured in the Daily Mail on Monday 26th September (pdf below).
